Responsible Riding

Access rights only exist if you take access responsibly. At all times you should:-

bullet

ride slowly past all livestock and avoid entering fields with livestock where possible;

bullet

leave your dog at home;

bullet

park thoughtfully and leave all accesses clear;

bullet

avoid riding on soft ground and churning up paths and tracks, especially where these are used by other people or  are specifically designated for walkers or cyclists;

bullet

keep off forest roads when they are thawing after a period of heavy frost;

bullet

remember that people you meet may be old, infirm or just scared of horses;

bullet

not leave a mess in the middle of the path and remove all litter and droppings from parking areas;

bullet

not jump hedges, gates, stacks of timber or carry out repetitive schooling without the owner's permission;

bullet

consider the needs of land managers;

bullet

wear hi-vis clothing.

And to repeat: ALWAYS remove all droppings, litter and rubbish from parking areas.
