GROUP ACTION
MEAG is currently working on the following projects or access issues.
TEINDLAND We are working with the Forestry Commission here to develop to waymarked trails around the forest with horse friendly parking. We have submitted proposals to the Commission and are just awaiting their formal approval before we start applying for grants.
DAVA WAY This is the new long distance footpath from Forres to Grantown. It is still under development and in some places it is not suitable for horses. We are working with the Dava Way Association to make it all suitable for horses. This includes bridge improvements and resurfacing some soft areas..
FOREST PLANS Forestry Commission will seek our comments on equestrian access when updating their forest management plans. We have already submitted comments on Teindland, Rosarie and Cairdswood. Some improvements have already been made as a result of these.
MORAY ACCESS FORUM The Group represents horse riding interests on the Moray Access Forum and will take a proactive role in helping to solve access disputes and provide better access for horse-riders and carriage drivers.
WHERE TO RIDE IN MORAY We are working with the Access staff in Moray Council to produce a 'where to ride in Moray' leaflet. This will feature ten places in Moray where you can ride with details of accommodation and parking. This will be published this autumn.
